This was a my final project I did for my photography class at Academy of Art University this past Spring semester. The premise was to take 50+ pictures to tell a narrative along the theme of “invisibility”. I did a photo narration of Gracepoint Fellowship Church’s weekly Sunday Worship Service setup and takedown at a local middle school in Berkeley, CA. It’s related to invisibility because they are considered a mobile church, so they take all their equipment (sound, instruments, lighting, tables, food, etc.) into trailers and minivans and setup at different venues to hold worship services or other special events. They are in a sense, invisible, because the public only sees a middile school, but they have no idea that a church comes in on Sundays and transforms the campus into a place of worship.
So here’s a quick teaser of the book that I produced and hand made (I love bookbinding!). More images to come soon…
Transformation. Invisibility: The Unseen Around Us
