Before this day is over, 26,000 children under age 5 will die—most of them from preventable causes like hunger, poverty, and disease.

14,000 will die from causes related to hunger alone. That’s one kid every seven seconds.

Why do I tell you these horrible stats? I’ve been learning a lot about world hunger, and I want to do something about it. My friends and I are doing World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine this year. On Saturday, June 27th, my friends and I are going to go without food for 30 hours to raise money to help children in need.

Just $30 can help feed and care for a hungry child for one month.

I’m trying to raise $360 to feed and care for one child for one year.

Will you help me reach that goal by sponsoring me? (it’s tax deductable, too) As you guys know, design is my passion, and I did some personal design work that I want to share with everyone.

As a sign of personal gratitude: For a $30 donation, I’ll throw in a 11×17 poster. For $45poster and a t-shirt.

You can easily sponsor me by going to this website.

If you want to pay using another form, just let me know by emailing me: rdongses@gmail.com.

Thanks for your support!

This was a my final project I did for my photography class at Academy of Art University this past Spring semester. The premise was to take 50+ pictures to tell a narrative along the theme of “invisibility”. I did a photo narration of Gracepoint Fellowship Church’s weekly Sunday Worship Service setup and takedown at a local middle school in Berkeley, CA. It’s related to invisibility because they are considered a mobile church, so they take all their equipment (sound, instruments, lighting, tables, food, etc.) into trailers and minivans and setup at different venues to hold worship services or other special events. They are in a sense, invisible, because the public only sees a middile school, but they have no idea that a church comes in on Sundays and transforms the campus into a place of worship.

So here’s a quick teaser of the book that I produced and hand made (I love bookbinding!). More images to come soon…

Transformation. Invisibility: The Unseen Around Us

There’s been a lot of weddings I’ve been attending recently. Here’s some shots I took at my peers’ wedding. Both Will and Andrea attend the SF campus of Gracepoint Fellowship Church, and serve together in their SFSU ministry. Congratulations, guys!

Saturday, May 30, 2009. Two of my high school buds get married. It’s been a while since I saw them myself. It was good to see them, and celebrate this wonderful occasion with them.
